The Certified Gun Violence Intervention Specialist training program is a comprehensive, evidence-based course designed to equip educators, social workers, counselors, and community leaders with the critical skills needed to prevent gun violence among youth, particularly students in grades 7-12. With gun violence being a leading cause of death for young people in the U.S., this training addresses the urgent need for intervention through nonviolent conflict resolution, social-emotional learning (SEL), and proactive prevention strategies.
Participants will gain a deep understanding of the root causes of gun violence, including peer pressure, social media influences, mental health challenges, and the impact of gangs. The program also covers essential skills such as conflict resolution, emotional regulation, and how to create safe, supportive environments for youth.
Upon successful completion, participants will be certified as Gun Violence Intervention Specialists, enabling them to lead prevention efforts, facilitate groups, and provide education in schools, community centers, and other setting
